 PCV Valve ReplacementThe Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve—-or PCV valve— redirects unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide present in the crankcase back into the air intake system where they have a second chance to burn. Sometimes, due to extreme heat, a PCV valve will fail either in the open or closed position. Failure in the open position can result in incorrect ignition timing and loss of power. Failure in the closed condition can result in excess pressure buildup in the crankcase leading to oil seal failure or oxygen sensor fouling. |
